Sometimes your veterinarian may decide that your pet needs special dental care beyond the usual scaling and polishing, or an alternative to tooth extraction. In order to meet these needs, there are veterinary speciaists who provide advanced dental procedures for animals. Dr. Eric Van Nice is a graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, and a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College. Referral services available include assistance with tooth fractures, root canals and crowns, orthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, and dental and sinus x-rays. Many of these techniques are adopted from human dentistry, and each different species has its own unique challenges.

x-rays can identify hidden problems that may cause pain, infection and loss of proper tooth function in your pet. Proper treatment can make a big difference in your pet's health and comfort.
